Allegations of Question Paper Leak Surface During NEET UG 2024 Exam
Today, the National Testing Agency (NTA) oversaw the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024 in 557 cities across India and 14 cities internationally, spanning numerous exam centers. Despite the widespread administration of the exam, social media platforms have been inundated with claims of a question paper leak, casting a shadow over the integrity of the assessment process.
Among the numerous allegations, one particular incident at the Rajasthan Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, has gained attention. Hindi medium students allege that they were mistakenly provided with English medium question papers. While the NTA has acknowledged this error, it vehemently denies any assertion of a paper leak.
In response to the swirling rumors, a senior official from the NTA addressed the situation, stating, “Claims of a paper leak are entirely false and appear to be motivated by a desire to sensationalize the news. In an isolated incident at the Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, Hindi-medium students received English medium question papers due to a mistake. Regrettably, before the invigilator could rectify the error, students forcefully exited the exam hall with the question papers.”
The official further clarified, “According to protocol, students are only permitted to leave the hall with the question paper after the examination. However, in this instance, some students departed forcefully. Consequently, the question paper surfaced on the internet around 4 pm. Fortunately, by that time, the exam had already commenced at all other centers across the nation. Hence, there has been no substantiated leak of the NEET UG question paper.”
Despite the controversy, a staggering 23 lakh candidates registered for the NEET UG 2024 Exam this year, comprising 10 lakh male students, 13 lakh female students, and 24 students categorized under the third gender. Uttar Pradesh boasted the highest number of candidates, closely followed by Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
In addition to the examination procedures, candidates were briefed extensively on the prohibited items within the examination hall, ensuring a fair and transparent assessment process. As the investigation into the alleged question paper leak continues, the NTA remains committed to upholding the integrity of the NEET UG examination, safeguarding the aspirations of countless aspiring medical professionals across the nation.
