Tragedy Strikes Kashmir as Four Tourists Killed in Road Accident
Srinagar, May 25: A bright Saturday afternoon turned into a day of mourning for a group of tourists visiting Kashmir. Four residents of Punjab lost their lives in a horrific road accident that occurred in the Nipora area of Kulgam district. Three others from the same group are battling critical injuries in a hospital.
Local officials reported that the ill-fated vehicle, carrying seven tourists hailing from Moga district in Punjab, was traveling from Qazigund towards Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but initial reports suggest the vehicle skidded off the road near a grid station in the Nipora area. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving four passengers dead.
The surviving victims were rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Anantnag, where they are receiving critical care.
“Our hearts go out to the families who have lost their loved ones in this sudden tragedy,” said a spokesperson for the local authorities. “We are offering them all possible support during this difficult time.”
The police have taken cognizance of the accident and are currently investigating the cause.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety. Authorities are likely to review road conditions in the area and urge tourists to exercise caution while traveling in Kashmir.
