102 Films and Web Series Captured the Scenic Beauty of Jammu and Kashmir in 2023
J&K Emerges as Top Destination for Bollywood and South Indian Film Industry
Srinagar, Feb 13 (InsightKashmir.com): Jammu and Kashmir continues to enchant filmmakers, with 102 films and web series capturing the breathtaking landscapes of the region in 2023 alone, according to data compiled by insightkashmir.com.
Over the past two years, the picturesque locales of Jammu and Kashmir have served as the backdrop for more than 300 cinematic ventures, drawing acclaim for showcasing the unparalleled beauty of the Kashmir valley.
Last year witnessed a surge in Bollywood and Tollywood productions flocking to the region, with 102 films and web series securing permits for shooting in Jammu and Kashmir.
Among the notable productions filmed in the valley in 2023 were Shahrukh Khan’s “Dunki,” Yami Gautam’s “Article 370,” and John Abraham’s “Vedaa.”
This surge in cinematic interest follows the approval granted to 200 films and web series in 2022, indicating a sustained attraction for filmmakers towards the region.
Officials attribute this surge to the effective implementation of the film policy, which has streamlined the process for obtaining shooting permits in Jammu and Kashmir. The policy, introduced in 2021, aimed to position the region as a premier destination for filmmakers.
Furthermore, the government’s proactive measures, including the establishment of the Film Development Fund (FDF) and the facilitation of a single-window mechanism for permit applications, have contributed to this burgeoning trend.
The Jammu and Kashmir Film Development Council has been instrumental in providing logistical support to filmmakers, ensuring a seamless shooting experience. Interested directors can now apply for permits conveniently through the online portal jkfilm.jk.gov.in.
With these initiatives in place, Jammu and Kashmir is poised to maintain its status as a coveted filming destination, offering not only breathtaking landscapes but also a supportive environment for cinematic endeavors.
